A summary of the main changes is as follows:
- Adoption of new updated economic values
- A change in the construction of the Replacement index. The proposed index moves from the current index constructed at the bull level (which includes the male calves produced by the bull) to an index constructed at the cow level. The new index is now expressed on a per lactation basis whereas the current index is expressed on a per calf born basis which includes the lifetime profit for females out of the bull.
- Within the new index the cost of increased maintenance for bigger cows is now evaluated based on the pta for liveweight as opposed to the pta for cull cow weight.
