With calving season coming to an end, total calf births registered in 2021 have now passed 2 million calves as of last week.
As can be seen from the below graph, there was some 2,004,159 calves registered as of June 18th 2021. This is up over 30,000 when compared with the same date in 2020. When we look closer we can see that Beef births are actually on the decline with over 18,500 fewer calves registered up to June 18th this year when compared with the same period last year.
Dairy births are a different story with over 48,500 more dairy calves registered up to June 18th when compared with the same period in 2020. Pedigree registrations are up almost 4,500 when compared to the same period year over year.
