ICBF and Sheep Ireland are delighted to announce that Senator Ian Marshall is the keynote speaker for this year’s ICBF & Sheep Ireland Genetics Conference. Senator Marshall is to draw on his extensive experience in the food industry to discuss the topic of Social License-Working with the consumer to tackle today’s challenges.
In 2018 Marshall was elected as a Senator in Seanad Eireann, following his election he was appointed to serve on the joint Oireachtas Committee for Climate Change & Environment and the Seanad Committee for the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union.
Marshall was born on a family farm near Markethill in Co. Armagh. On completion of his secondary education Marshall attended Greenmount Agricultural College to further his education undertaking a Diploma in Agriculture with a view to expand and grow the family’s farm.
On return to the family farm Marshall expanded the dairy, beef and tillage enterprises, alongside his farming activities the young Marshall became heavily involved in The Ulster Farmers’ Union through their committee structure, Management Board and Executive Committee culminating in his election as Vice President in 2011 and election as President in 2014.
Senator Marshall has completed a Masters in Agri-Food Business Development at Ulster University and Babson College in Boston, USA. We hope that Marshall will bring all this experience to bear at this year’s conference as well as his outspoken views on Brexit.
The ICBF & Sheep Ireland Genetics Conference will take place on Friday the 17th of January in The Hertiage Hotel Killenard Co Laois more details or to order tickets, click here.
